Stand By for Station 60
Sat. Jul 3rd 2010

On Saturday a crew from Company 83 was sent to Station 60 for a stand by detail while many of its members attended a fellow members' wedding.  While on stand by the crew was dispatched  twice; once for a motorcycle accident and once for a vehicle accident with entrapment.

At 17:23 Company 83 was dispatched with Station 60 for a motorcycle accident with injuries on Rt. 53 near Watts Rd. in Gallitzin Twp.  Engine 83-1 responded out of Station 60 and arrived on scene to find one patient had been ejected from his motorcycle when he lost control of the vehicle.  The patient was pronounced D.O.A. by the deputy coroner.  All units were placed back in service at 19:45.

At 21:05 Company 83 was dispatched with Station 60 for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment at 1402 Watts Rd. in Allegheny Twp.  Engine 83-1 responded out of Station 60 once again and arrived on scene to find a man trapped underneath a farm tractor.  Crews immediately began working to extricate the patient by using a combination of airbags, rescue struts, hurst tools, and cribbing.  After lifting the tractor high enough, the patient was freed and immediatly transported to the hospital to recieve nescessary care.  All units were place back in service at 21:41.
